Incase Icon Packir?t=spireusa 20&l=li3&o=1&a=B00KSYM4Q6Researching bags lead to a lot of options from Incase and they’re definitely one of the most consistent bag makers on the market. Their products are consistently reviewed well and this one is no exception, especially in the looks department.

The Icon and Icon Lite are two of the more sleek options for a day bag to store your laptop in. If you’re more like me and prefer to pack less get the light the Icon Lite might be your best pick.

Both come with pockets for your laptop, iPad and multiple accessories, have chest buckle to aid in comfort and come in multiple colors. The value comes from being minimal while retaining core functionality and looking good.

The Heavy Duty Option

The Pelican U100 Elite Backpackir?t=spireusa 20&l=li3&o=1&a=B008K4PGX4Pelican is known for making TOUGH gear. Their products are used in construction and military environments for good reason. If you work in or around either of these and absolutely MUST protect your laptop, then this is the option for you.

It comes with sturdy straps, pockets for accessories and padding on the back. Aside from a helmet, it’s a contractor’s best friend when going to and from or getting around a site.

Photographer’s Choice

Ruggard Thunderhead 75 DSLR & Laptop Backpackir?t=spireusa 20&l=li3&o=1&a=B00LW7T3JEIf you’re constantly snapping photos on a DSLR camera you know how much of a pain it can be to lug around all your gear. Lenses, spare gear and the camera are a bit much without the laptop and more often than not those are different bags.

If you’re planning to leave the lights at home for a day of landscape shooting and need a bag check out the Thunderhead 75 DSLR & Laptop Backpack by Ruggard.

This bag was made with cameramen in mind. It comes with compartments for your camera (of course), 9 lenses, your flash AND up to a 17″ laptop! If that’s not enough there are convenient pockets and straps on the side for a tripod.

The exterior is water-repellent and it comes with a removable rain cover. Your gear can get heavy so the bag is build to last and help distribute the weight while making your trip more comfortable. It comes with waist straps that aid the already padded shoulder straps.

It’s simply legit.

On other bags

If you want a shoulder bag, be sure to read our best laptop bags of 2018 guide instead. Or, if a bag you love didn’t make the list or you think I missed something feel free to leave a comment.

Make sure you also have a laptop sleeve or case, too.

No majorly lower priced bags were listed because more often than not you get what you paid for you and many use lesser materials. Mind you, there are some good quality bags at a lower price point, but these are just better. Cheers!

  1. Jonathon, I was just looking for a bag for a Wacom Mobilestudio 16 and wondered if Spire made something to spec but, alas, apparently not. I have one of the original Spire backpacks (from 1998-99 I think). I just want to note that it’s the best backpack I’ve ever come across; it’s been around the world again and again (and again and again; I did extensive travel for freelance media work through the 2000’s and the backpack was a constant companion on flights and trips; it’s been everywhere from the mountains in Bulgaria to a rice field in Japan to the back of a Land Rover in the DRC). Other than the slightest bit of fraying (oddly, on the inside) it’s in as good a shape as when I bought it. You truly made some great products. I’ve got one of the early shoulder laptop bags as well, same story there with durability.
